Atmosphere 0.6 Gets Websocket Support

Jessica Thornsby

Atmosphere 0.6 is released with a new JQuery Plugin and Spring, Struts and JSF support.

Atmosphere version 0.6 is now available.

With this release, Atmosphere ships with a JQuery Plugin for building Client side applications, and supports the Spring, Struts, Wicket, JSF, Akka, GWT, Grails, and JRuby on Rails frameworks. The Websocket specification is now also supported, allowing developers to write portable Websocket applications and deploy them into a Web Server that supports said protocol. If the Web Server doesn’t support the specification, Atmosphere emulates Websocket by using Comet. Also supported are Tomcat 7, GlassFish 3.1 WebSocket and Resin 4.0.

The team are currently holding discussions on what features should be included in the 0.7 release.
