The Apache Velocity team have announced the release of Apache Velocity Engine version 1.7. This release comes with four new syntax features, including a literal text block and brackets to get and set values in lists. The 'stop' directive now stops rendering instead of parsing, and all templates, standard block directives, macros and macro bodies can be configured to have an automatically-provided, context-aware namespace reference.
