New Release

Apache OpenJPA 2.2.0 available now!

The community from the Apache OpenJPA project are proud to announce their next update of their Java persistence framework - OpenJPA 2.2.0

This release, the first update since July 2011, has a number of large enhancements. Most notable of these is the newly enhanced DB2 Diagnostic interface, which can be used to detect the causes of errors in SQL exceptions. Over 100 bugs have been fixed in the release too, which can see from the overview of the release notes.

OpenJPA can be used as a stand-alone POJO persistence layer or integrated into any Java EE compliant container and many other lightweight frameworks, such as Tomcat and Spring. This distribution is based on the final JSR 317 Java Persistence API, Version 2.0 specification, whilst remaining backwards compatible with prior releases based on the Java Persistence API (JPA 1.0) part of Java Community Process JSR-220 (Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0).

Thoughts have already turned to the next release stream, 2.3.x but as of yet features are yet to be determined. You of course need Java 6 as a minimum to get OpenJPA to work, and you can download it here.
