Apache Commons IO 2.0 Gets New Methods

Jessica Thornsby

Apache Commons IO 2.0 moves minimum Java requirement from JDK 1.3 to JDK 1.5.

Apache Commons version IO 2.0 has been released.

Commons IO is a package of Java utility classes, stream implementations, file filters, file comparators and endian transformation classes for java.io’s hierarchy. This release gets new broken input and output streams, BoundedInputStream, StringBuilder Writer implementation and Tailer class. There are new methods for name filters which take an IOCase object, and methods for suffix and prefix filters which take an IOCase object.

Commons IO 2.0 is backwards compatible with the previous 1.4 release, although it does require a minimum of JDK 1.5.
