Android Top OS in U.S Consumer Market

The Nielsen Company, a global information and measurement company, have released their data for the second quarter 2011, which reveals that Google's Android operating system is now the most popular operating system in the U.S consumer market, with a 39% market share. In second place, is Apple's iOS, with 28%, and RIM Blackberry comes in third (20%). However, Nielsen concluded that, since Apple were the only company manufacturing smartphones that ran iOS operating systems "it is clearly the top smartphone manufacturer in the United States."

The Nielsen data is based on a study of more than 20,000 smartphone users.
