Eclipse Platform UI Lead Leaves IBM

Boris Bokowski, the Eclipse Platform UI lead, has announced that he is taking a job with Google, after six years of working for IBM. He will be working on web-based tools at Google’s Munich office, although he is unclear what this change in employment will mean for his Eclipse contributions, saying “I may be able to remain an Eclipse committer, but it will definitely no longer be my main job.”

 

JRuby 1.6.3 Released

JRuby 1.6.3 has been released. This release includes fixes for some incompatibilities for the 1.9 language, and core class fixes, and improves the Ruby object construction performance. The full list of issues resolved can be viewed at the release announcement. JRuby 1.6.3 can be downloaded now.

 

Grails-Based CMS Reaches 1.0

Following two and a half years of work, the Grails-based Weceem content management system has reached version 1.0. The 1.0 release adds new tags, including wcm:ancestorOfType, wcm:findNode, and wcm:resource, and adds a “User specific content” flag on Template nodes. A configurable list of “Space templates” is also supported, allowing users to create a new space from a given template displayed in a drop-down. Android Development Tools 12.0.0 Released

Version 12.0.0 of the Android Development Tools (ADT) Eclipse plugin is now available. In this release, the new Visual Layout Editor’s support for RelativeLayouts has been revamped, and now features guideline suggestions when users drag into or within the layout. Drawables and colors are now previewed in the resource chooser dialogues, and the error messages and links for rendering errors have been improved. Please note that ADT 12.0.0 is designed to be used with SDK Tools r12.
