100,000 users to try Google Wave
Gmail’s much anticipated sibling Google Wave is getting ready to enter semi-public beta phase. The tool that blends email and chat is currently open for select developers. It would be made available for 100,000 users for testing by September end, Google has announced. To be a part of first run, users will have to sign up on Google's invite page.
About 6,000 developers are now using Google APIs to develop interesting extensions to Wave. Google showcased some of the interesting ideas recently at a developer meet. One of them, labeled Waves in WordPress, lets bloggers quickly embed an entire Wave conversation into a blog post. Another feature, a robot enables users to create groups and manage their own subscriptions.
Google is also planning to add 20,000 more developers next month.
